Robert Forster was a bit of a relic in the '90s, until Tarantino found the Medium Cool star the perfect role of Max Cherry. He’s a weathered bail bondsman with an impotent state of mind. His business keeps him in the company of murderers, so he finds solace at movie matinees. That is until he catches sight of Pam Grier’s Jackie Brown -- like a vision from an old movie -- who inspires Cherry to rise from his apathy and get in on some action.
